Young Artists to present ‘Stuart Little’ The Young Artists Ensemble (YAE) will present "Stuart Little" at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from April 8 to 24 at Hillcrest Center for the Arts, Theatre on the Hill, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Based on the classic children’s novel by E. B. White and dramatized by Joseph Robinette, this big adventure about a small mouse is directed by YAE alumni Seth Allen. How terribly surprised the Little family must have been when its second child turned out to be a small mouse. Apparently familiar with the axiom that "when in New York City, anything can happen," the Littles accept young Stuart into their family unquestioningly. "Stuart Little" is a heartwarming tale of friendship, compassion and courage. Although he is small in stature, Stuart is determined and ready to face whatever challenges await him. Families will delight in the adventures of this clever mouse, graceful bird and wily cat as they chase each other from their living room into the streets of New York and up to the sky. E.B. White, the author of 20 books of prose and poetry, was awarded the 1970 Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal for his children’s books "Stuart Little" and "Charlotte’s Web." His third children’s book, "The Trumpet of the Swan," was honored by The International Board on Books for Young People as an outstanding example of literature with international importance. Tickets range from $9 to $13 and are available by calling the YAE box office at (805) 381-1246. |
