Member of Women’s Club a Grand Lady

In looks, actions and deeds, Dorothy Brockway epitomizes the title of Westlake Women’s Club Grand Lady. From Texas origins, she came to the San Fernando Valley when it still had turkey farms and walnut groves.

In 1975, she moved to Westlake Village and, shortly after unpacking, joined Westlake Women’s Club. When Westlake Hospital opened, Dorothy joined the auxiliary and volunteered there until it closed. She has always been very active in the women’s club, holding many offices and chairmanships.

For about 25 years, Dorothy solicited money for the club’s money wreaths and/or bouquets used as prizes at fundraisers, folded all those bills and very artistically, with a few enhancements, made beautiful, enviable works of art. Last year she did all that work in her hospital bed at the Los Robles East Campus and this year, while not feeling well, in her wheelchair.

That "Texas grit" and Southern charm, sprinkled with a sense of humor, has endeared Dorothy to all who know her.
