Conejo Recreation and Parks offers pet health classes
Conejo Recreation and Park District invites dog and cat lovers to learn more about their pet’s health through classes taught by Marion Wagstaff, a certified Pet Tech Instructor. "Pet Care, the Senior Petizen and Dental Care for Your Pet" will be presented from 7 to 9 p.m. Weds., April 6. Cost is $24. Part one of the class, "Caring for Your Senior Petizen," teaches owners the specific needs and care of older pets. Topics include exercise, nutrition and preventive measures. "Dental Care for Your Pet" provides instruction on the anatomy of pet teeth, the signs, symptoms and treatment of poor oral hygiene, and how to clean a pet’s teeth. "Pet First Aid" will be presented from 1 to 5 p.m. Sat., May 7. Cost is $33. The program covers pet CPR, rescue breathing, choking management, wellness assessment, heat injuries, poisoning, bleeding protocols, bites and stings as well as injury assessment. Classes will be at the Hillcrest Center, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Enrollment is limited to 15 students per class and open to ages 16 and up. Register at www.crpd.org. Classes include a handbook and a certificate upon successful completion. Do not bring pets to class. Out-of-district patrons will be assessed a 20 percent in-lieu-of-tax fee.
