Sponsorship and duck adoption opportunities are now available for Many Mansions’ seventh annual Great Conejo Duck Race, the organization’s largest fundraising event.

The Duck Race is a family event scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Sun., June 12 at the Landing in Westlake Village.

Admission is free and there will be food, a live raffle, children’s corner of games, face painting and Quacky, the event mascot. The race attracts nearly 1,000 participants from Ventura County and surrounding areas.

Many Mansions’ staff, board members and volunteers adopt out thousands of rubber ducks to individuals prior to the event. On the day of the race, the ducks are placed in the lake at the Landing. The parent of the winning duck will win a $5,000 cash prize.

Duck adoptions start at $5 and can be reserved at www.conejo duckrace.com. Adoption forms can also be picked up at Citibank, Santa Barbara Bank and Trust and other local businesses.

Adoptive duck parents may also choose to join or start a duck race team. The four teams that raise the most money for Many Mansions will qualify to participate in a preliminary race the day of the event for a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree at The Oaks mall.

Corporations, organizations and foundations may receive recognition for their sponsorship.

"We’ve set an ambitious goal of racing 10,000 ducks this year and making this year’s event the most successful in Many Mansions’ history," said Vanessa Berlinsky, special event coordinator. "Our success depends on people taking action, and we certainly hope that our mission of providing affordable housing and life-enriching services inspires them to do so."

All proceeds from the Duck Race will support Many Mansions, a local nonprofit that provides affordable housing and services to low-income individuals in Ventura County and surrounding areas.
