Dancers raise over $2,500 for victims of tsunami
Students at Retter’s Academy of Dance have raised more than $2,500 for the United Way International Tsunami Relief Fund through T-shirt sales. Student members of the Thoughtfulness Committee (TLC) created T-shirts with a large pink heart in the background and the word "Danceitarian," indicating that these dancers also focus on humanitarian endeavors.
TLC was created under the leadership of executive and artistic directors Linda Bernabei-Retter and Darryl Retter.
The Retters have assisted their dancers in other humanitarian projects, including providing needy families with Christmas presents and living essentials through MEND, adopting needy children worldwide, sending handmade correspondence to U.S. troops stationed internationally, and raising more than $4,000 for the New York Police and Fire Widows and Children’s Benefit Fund following Sept. 11.
