It’s time to hear the council’s plans for Two Winds Ranch
We hope city council members Jacqui Irwin, Andy Fox and Dennis Gillette will reveal next Tuesday night why they reversed an earlier decision that called for the renovation of Two Winds Ranch.
Two Winds is an equestrian facility just southwest of Dos Vientos (which sounds fine in English, but would be silly in Spanish).
When a majority of elected officials reverses the action of a previous unanimous decision, it causes alarm, especially when two of the council members approved the original plan to remodel Two Winds Ranch.
Imagine the rumors that are now circulating about the site and land that’s adjacent to Two Winds. Some residents probably suspect that there’s a sinister plan for residential development.
If so, they need a reality check.
It would be political suicide to call for new homes in the Two Winds or Broome ranch areas. In the divine logic of today’s anti-development fervor and advocacy of protecting open space, the mere suggestion of new housing in such a pristine area would be crazy.
Any council member who promoted development of Two Winds Ranch or the areas around it would be subjected to even worse ridicule at council meetings. Council members are already forced to cope with cheap-shot artists who monopolize the microphones with venomous and insulting remarks at every council meeting.
Irwin, Fox and Gillette can set the record straight next Tuesday by simply explaining their positions on Two Winds Ranch. It’s time to halt the innuendos and falsehoods. There has to be a logical explanation for the 3-2 vote against remodeling Two Winds Ranch.
It’s time to hear it.
