Helping the Hospice

In next week’s Thousand Oaks Acorn, readers will have an opportunity to subscribe to their favorite weekly paper. Not to worry, your Thursday Acorn will still be offered as a free publication. This voluntary subscription drive is simply The Acorn’s way of giving something back to the community as almost half the subscription proceeds will go to charity.

Here’s what’s in store.

Inside the Oct. 23 T.O. Acorn you will find a form and an envelope to begin your annual subscription. The cost is $15 for one year. Forty percent of the revenues from this endeavor will be donated to Hospice of the Conejo. The remainder will cover delivery and production costs, so as you can see this is not about making more money for the newspaper, it’s about helping one of the area’s most active charities. Hospice has been providing support services for cancer patients, survivors and families for over 25 years. It’s our hope that your contribution—and ours—will help those good deeds continue.

We began these subscription donations in 2002 and hope to continue the momentum in 2003. To all those who contributed last year, we say thank you.

Among other things, Hospice workers promise comfort to families for up to six weeks after the loss of a loved one. The organization reaches out to the residents of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Newbury Park and the outlying areas of Moorpark and Simi Valley.

With your support of this upcoming subscription drive, we can all work together to make sure those in need get the care they so richly deserve.

Join us in our effort to be a good neighbor. We look forward to your participation.
