No lights for the new park

Having read your article covering the community input meeting for the planned Lang Ranch Community Park, I wonder if your reporter attended the same meeting I attended. Perhaps your reporter wasn’t really listening to the comments made. The majority of the residents who live in the developments surrounding the park are in favor of a park being developed.

We all were aware of the future park when we purchased our homes. What we were not aware of was the fact that a special interest group, namely Thousand Oaks Little League, is a major funder of the park. Their agenda is to make this park a major sports complex with lighted ball fields until 10 p.m. every evening and a public address system to announce the games. There will also be parking for 680 cars using one entrance/exit on Westlake Boulevard.

The noise, light pollution and increased volume of traffic on an already packed and dangerous Westlake Boulevard. will be horrendous. The residents want a scaled down park that ALL families can enjoy instead of a mega-sports complex.

The CRPD seems bound and determined to forge ahead with this park to satisfy the Thousand Oaks Little League. This is a major concern to all of the local residents and we are trying our best to be heard.
