City Councilmember Tom Glancy, who just last week handed in his letter of resignation to the city, has died. He was 71.

Another appointment debate could be brewing in Thousand Oaks.

On Monday, city officials announced that Tom Glancy was stepping down from the City Council, effective immediately, because of an ongoing battle with a rare form of cancer.

Glancy, 71, submitted his letter of resignation on Friday.

Hillcrest solar panel project now $400,000 over budget

Roof work atop the Hillcrest Center, where more than 600 solar panels have been installed, will cost Thousand Oaks $400,000 more than anticipated due to faulty workmanship by a contractor, city officials said this week.

The deadline to register to vote in the June 5 presidential primary election is Mon., May 21. Completed voter registration forms must be postmarked by May 21.

Registration forms are available at city halls, post offices, libraries, Chambers of Commerce and fire stations.

State finance department gives thumbs down to several proposed RDA payments

Six projects the city hoped to complete with funds from its defunct redevelopment agency have been rejected by the state department of finance. Among them: plans to underground power lines on Thousand Oaks Boulevard and plans to buy Conejo Valley Unified School District’s Kelley Road property so that the school district can relocate Conejo Valley High School.
