Registration open for Meals on Wheels Love Run

Registration is open for the Senior Concerns 12th annual Love Run to benefit Meals on Wheels on Sun., June 5 in the parking lot next to the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village. The 5K run and 5K walk, both timed, will start at 8 a.m. The timed 10K run will start at 9:15 a.m., followed by a one-mile kid’s run at 9:30 a.m. Families may participate in a non-competitive fun stroll.

The registration fee is $20 before May 30 and $25 after that date. Competitive participants will receive mile and final timings, numbered bibs and awards for the top three men and women finishers in 15 different age brackets up to 80-plus years.

Pre-race-day registrants will receive a free event T-shirt. Awards will be presented to all children who cross the finish line.

A party with a disc jockey, free refreshments, raffle prizes and vendor display tables will follow the races. More than 700 runners, walkers and strollers are expected to participate in this event.

Participants may sign up online at www.seniorconcerns.org and pay by credit card. They may also print a form off the website and mail it with a check to Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360.

"In addition to individual registrants, we’re making a big push this year to sign up teams of runners that will earn prizes for the most registration money raised to benefit Meals on Wheels," said Sandra Bishop, Senior Concerns president.

Corporate event sponsors include Ventura County Star, Lite 92.7-FM radio, California-American Water Company, California Water Service Company, City of Oxnard Water Division, Custom Printing, Dignity Memorial, Milgard Windows, Domino’s Pizza and Kaiser Permanente.

Meals on Wheels is a program of Senior Concerns, a social service agency based in Thousand Oaks that provides informational and personal services for frail and special-need seniors and their caregiver families in Ventura and western Los Angeles counties.
