Area kids to perform benefit concert for Many Mansions A group of local students is putting on a concert to benefit Many Mansions, a Thousand Oaks nonprofit group dedicated to providing affordable housing. "When Swing Meets Rock," featuring the Bluez Boyz, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sun., May 29 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Scherr Forum. The 13-member professional jazz band is made up of 13- to 16-year-olds from local middle and high schools. Although the Bluez Boyz have performed at various functions, including Many Mansions’ annual duck race in Westlake Village, this is the first benefit concert for both the band and Many Mansions. "If we sell out, we will make close to $5,000 that will benefit over 1,000 residents who live in our low-income properties," said Nichole Lanse, Many Mansions director of resource development. Tickets are $15, $25 and $50. The $50 tickets include a wine and hors d’oeuvres party from 6 to 7 p.m. at Gardens of the World. For tickets please call Many Mansions at (805) 496-4948, ext. 36, or go to www.ticketmaster.com. ––Sophia Fischer |
