Summer festival schedule set The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum Summer Festival will be presented from June 5 through Oct. 30 in an outdoor setting at 1419 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga. Opening the summer repertory season is "Othello," Shakespeare’s riveting story of passion and betrayal starring James Avery in the title role (June 5-Sept. 25). Back by popular demand is Theatricum’s award-winning version of Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," (June 11 to 25 and Sept. 5 to 24). Beginning July 2, Theatricum audiences will have a rare opportunity to see "Fashion," a comedy written in 1845 by Anna Cora Mowatt, one of America’s first female playwrights, performed with songs of the era (July 2-Oct. 2). Arthur Miller’s comic drama "The Ride Down Mt. Morgan" follows (July 30-Oct. 8). All performances are in Theatricum’s 300-seat amphitheater. Tickets are $25 for the lower tier and $15 for the upper tier, with discounts for children, students and seniors. The amphitheaters are terraced into the hillside, so audience members are advised to dress casually (warmly for evenings) and bring cushions for bench seating. Picnickers are welcome on the grounds before or after the performances. For tickets, group discounts, and a full schedule of theater, music, poetry and family entertainment, call (310) 455-3723 or visit www.theatricum.com. |
