Fourth-graders support Ride On Therapeutic Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship in Newbury Park recently welcomed Ascension Lutheran School’s fourth-grade class to the ranch to accept a check for $2,200 that the students raised from designing and selling greeting cards. The funds will be used to sponsor a Ride On student for one full year and a horse for six months. Carolyn Richards, the class’s teacher, said that every year her class performs a service-learning project and this is the second year that they have supported Ride On. During their visit to present the check to Ride On, the students watched a therapeutic riding lesson. They also groomed the horse that they are sponsoring and learned about horse care and riding for children with disabilities. Ride On provides therapeutic riding to physically and mentally disabled children and adults. At ranches in Chatsworth and Newbury Park they serve more than 170 riders on a weekly basis and are assisted by dozens of volunteers.
