Parking changes at CVD

Continued construction of new ball fields on the southern portion of Conejo Creek Park South will affect parking for the 2005 Conejo Valley Days (CVD) through Sun., May 1 at the Janss Road exit of the 23 Freeway, Thousand Oaks.

Traditional parking "behind" the midway and carnival will be available but limited. Instead, fairgoers will be asked to park on the north side of Janss Road in the Thousand Oaks Library/Teen Center/Goebel Center parking lots. A tram on loan from the Pomona Fairplex and buses will make continual roundtrips from the parking lots to the fairgrounds.

The tram and bus rides are free and will make several stops around the fairgrounds. They will begin operating one hour before the opening of CVD each day until one hour after closing. "Shuttle Bus" pickup and drop-off signs will be posted in the parking lots and fair entrances.

"It may mean it will take a little longer to get into the fairgrounds, but cars will be on asphalt instead of dirt. That means everyone’s cars will be a lot cleaner," said Kim Ruda, CVD general chair.

Conejo Valley Days are 5 to 10 p.m. tonight, Thurs., April 28, and 5 p.m. to midnight Fri., April 29. Weekend times are noon to midnight Sat., April 30 and noon to 8 p.m. Sun., May 1.

The cost is $6 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors, $3 for children age 6 to 12 and free for children under 6. "Fun Night" wristbands are $17 per person for unlimited rides plus admission tonight only.
