Play will be performed in local parks, coming May 7 to Westlake Village

Gypsies in a Trunk will open its 11th season of Fairy Tales in the Park with a family show, "The Adventures of Robin Hood," presented during May at five locations.

The play opens at 2 p.m. Sun., May 1 in Channel Islands Harbor. The next shows will be at 10:30 a.m. Sat., May 7 at Foxfield Park, Westlake Village and at 4 p.m. at the Rancho Simi Bicentennial Amphitheatre in Rancho Simi Park, Simi Valley. Final performances will be at 11:30 a.m. Sat., May 14 behind the Community Recreation Center, 1605 E. Burnley St., Camarillo and at 4 p.m. at Barranca Vista Park, 7050 Ralston, Ventura.

Ample lawn seating is available at all locations. Guests may bring blankets, lunch or snacks but are asked to leave pets at home. All performances are free, but donations will be accepted at intermission.

This classic tale of Robin Hood finds two actors, usually stuck being the understudies and gofers, with a trunk of props and costumes, an audience waiting for a show and no other actors in sight. The actors can’t disappoint the children who came to see a show, so they enlist the audience to play soldiers, ladies-in-waiting and members of the merry band. Local actors John Logue and Roxanne Diesel each play three different parts in a flurry of quick changes and with help from the audience as they tell the tale. The show was written by Diesel.
