Local magazine nominated for award

Less than a year after the launch of its premier issue, the Westlake Village-based magazine 805 Living has been nominated for a Maggie Award for "Best Overall Design for a consumer magazine."

The Maggies are awarded by the Western Publications Association (WPA) to acknowledge magazines west of the Mississippi for their excellence in various categories.

The WPA’s 54th annual awards banquet will be Fri., April 22 in Los Angeles. Nearly 1,900 entries were received by the WPA for this year’s competition.

According to Carla J. Blanco, CEO of 3Digit Media, the parent company of 805 Living, "This is great news for us, our readers and of course, our advertisers. It confirms what we have all worked so hard to achieve over the past 10 months—excellence. This nomination—coupled with the extraordinary response from our readers and our continued ad page growth—suggests that our formula is working."

"We’re quite honored to have been nominated for our first issue out of the gates and are thrilled to be considered among the best of the west," said Lynne Andujar, 805 Living’s editor-in-chief and associate publisher. "We’re also quite thankful to have such a talented team, including Nicola Augustson, our creative director, who brings standout style to the pages of the magazine month after month."

805 Living offers a blend of lifestyle features including home design, style, entertaining, health, recreation, shopping, dining and food, wine and spirits, family, travel and profiles of the people who live in western Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

The magazine’s ad page count has increased 41 percent from the launch of the August 2004 issue through April 2005, and revenue has increased 64 percent in that same time period.
