Students win at art festival Students from the art and photography departments of Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks and Westlake high schools participated in the Sierra Cahuenga District Art Festival sponsored by the California Federation Women’s Club and held recently at the Granada Hills Women’s Club. Newbury Park High School student Brendan Konrath won first place in mixed media and fellow student Callen Fraychineaur earned first place in photography and best of show. Their teacher is Kristi Colell. From Thousand Oaks High School, Russell Parrish won second place in pencil, Zara Feeney received third place in oil and best of show, and Elizabeth Heil was given honorable mention in pastel. Their teacher is Steve Love. Jake Isaacs, Bianca Tartaglia and Sasha Yan of Westlake High School received honorable mention in pencil. Perrin Donaldson won second place in photography and Soojean Kang placed third in photography. John Farmer and Ms. Anderson were the teachers. The women’s club honored the winning students with cash awards and certificates. |
