Club seeks scholarship applicants

The Westlake Women’s Club (WWC) urges seniors in Conejo Valley area high schools and continuation schools to apply for its annual college scholarships, which total $7,000 this year.

One senior will be selected from each high school for these scholarships.

A special scholarship of $1,500, the WWC Karen Rufener Perpetual Scholarship, will be awarded to one student chosen from all the schools.

All grants will be made on the basis of academic records, teacher and counselor recommendations, and participation in school and community activities. Consideration will also be given to financial need.

The club makes an additional grant through the Women’s Resource Center of California Lutheran University. This scholarship is designed to help a young woman who is reentering school after an absence caused by need, work or other responsibilities.

Information and scholarship applications may be obtained from school career counselors. The submission deadline is Fri., April 22.
