State Street Ballet to salute the Swing era

State Street Ballet will present "Ballroom—A Salute to the Swing Era" at 8 p.m. Sat., April 2 in the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Cal State University Northridge.

Tickets ranging from $15 to $45 are available by calling (818) 677-2488. Parking is $4.

The show will meld ballet and swing into a nostalgic tour de force featuring the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and more.

"Five by Gershwin" evokes the romantic elegance of silver screen dance legends Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

"Tango Rain" explores the fiery beauty and dynamic passion of Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla’s Buenos Aires beat.
