Memorial coming for firefighters who lost their lives

The firefighters of Ventura County and the Rotary Clubs of Ventura County recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the future site of the Ventura County Fallen Firefighters Memorial. The event was at the Administration Circle at the County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura.

The memorial will recognize firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting residents and property in Ventura County.

When the memorial is completed, eight firefighters will be honored by having their names placed on the pedestal of a bronze firefighter statue holding a child, according to Ventura County Fire Chief Bob Roper.
