EDD to host basic payroll tax seminar

The Employment Development Department will sponsor a free "State Basic Payroll Tax" seminar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fri., April 8 at the Simi Valley Job and Career Center, 980 Enchanted Way, Ste. 105, Simi Valley.

Participants will learn: how and when to report state payroll taxes, the basics of how to distinguish between an employee and an independent contractor, about independent contractor reporting, and ways to get assistance.
