A 22-year-old Newbury Park man performing a motorcycle stunt died in a Christmas Eve crash.

Witnesses said Brett Holmes tried to accelerate while dragging both of his feet to the left of the bike.

Holmes then lost control, veered to the left and collided with a small shrub and a light pole, police said. He sustained severe chest injuries and died at the scene.

The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Kimber Drive between Danville Street and Hillrose Court.

According to reports, Holmes was performing stunts with a friend who wasn’t involved in the collision.

The collision is still under investigation, said Sgt. Patti Salas of the Thousand Oaks Police Department, but alcohol or drugs do not appear to be involved.
