Ventura Chabad presents course on women in Talmud

Rebbetzin Sarah Latowicz will lead a course exploring "Women in the Talmud" at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25, at the Chabad/Jewish Learning Center, 5040 Telegraph Road, Ventura.

Traditionally the Talmud, considered Judaism’s masterpiece of Rabbinic scholarship, has been perceived as an arena of male scholarship exclusively. This course will introduce participants to the remarkable women behind the great sages of the Talmud and to Talmudic women who were renowned for their own knowledge of the law.

Participants will learn about some of Judaism’s wisest women and learn about their lives and their legendary wisdom and scholarship as recorded in the pages of the Talmud. Tuition is $25 for the four-week course.
