Multi-parish adult education offers a variety Celebrating its fourth year, the University is a multi-parish adult education program offering more than 60 courses dealing with the Christian faith and moral living. Topics range from "The History Behind the Passion of Christ" to "Create the Marriage of Your Dreams." "The broad range of courses we’re offering shows just how relevant our faith is in our lives today," said Fr. Dave Heney, pastor of St. Paschal Baylon Church in Thousand Oaks and founder of the University. Classes will be presented from Feb. 10 through March 17. Featured speakers include Cardinal Roger Mahony, who will discuss the papacy and the selection of the next pope. Fr. Greg Boyle S.J. will speak about his work with poor and troubled youth in Los Angeles County through Home Boy Industries, offering jobs for a future. Bishop Thomas Curry will discuss church and state issues that have dominated the headlines recently. Classes are geared toward parishioners but are also open to the public. The University’s catalog will be available Sat., Jan. 8 at participating parishes. Preregistration will close on Mon., Jan. 31. The fee for each class is $5 advance payment, $7 at the door, and includes one free guest. Special passes ($60) will allow one person and one guest to attend all classes.
