Former first lady to speak in T.O.


Rosalynn Carter

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will open the Distinguished Speaker Series’ 2005 season at 8 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

As first lady, Carter brought an interest in complex social and political issues and a wealth of compassion to the White House.

Born and raised in the rural town of Plains, Ga., Carter emerged as one of the most respected and revered women in American political life.

Carter is a crusader on issues ranging from homelessness to global peace, and is a board member for a number of social causes, and a bestselling author.

Individual tickets to her appearance are not available, but Carter and the remaining series speakers can be seen by purchasing subscription packages.
