Cowboy Christmas concert gallops east to CSUN Riders in the Sky, a band that has been making music for nearly 24 years to celebrate the characters and culture of the West, will perform at 2 p.m. Sun., Dec. 5 at the Performing Arts Center at Cal State University Northridge. The center is on Zelzah Ave. between Prairie and Plummer streets in the Student Union Complex. Band members are Ranger Doug, Too Slim, Woody Paul and Joey the Cowpolka King. They revere the Old West acts and early Opry stars and are known for their acoustic music and blending of voices in a message of "big old moons, bellowing heifers and pure, pure cowboy love." Their musical style has been compared with Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. Their repertoire also includes children’s music. Parking is in Lot G4 at a fee of $4 per vehicle. Tickets range from $15 to $45 and are available by calling (818) 677-2488. |
