Gary Weeks, 16, of Newbury Park Boy Scout Troop 754 received his Eagle Rank at a ceremony on March 7 at the Rockwell Science Center in Thousand Oaks.
Gary is a junior honor roll student at Newbury Park High School (NPHS), where he was a varsity member of the school’s league champion water polo team.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Weeks refurbished the field house locker at NPHS. His project included 28 Scouts, youth and adults who worked a total of 172 volunteer hours. His team repaired holes in the walls, repainted damaged doors, installed kick plates and door bumpers and reinforced many areas that were water-damaged.
Weeks has been involved in Scouting since first grade and has earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award and 22 merit badges as a Boy Scout, where he has served his troop in a variety of leadership roles. He hails from a Scouting family. His 19-year-old brother, Ryan, is also an Eagle Scout, his 13-year-old brother, Kevin, is a Star Scout, and mom, Vicki, is Troop 754’s treasurer.
