Women’s Club offers scholarships

Scholarships totaling $4,700 are being offered by the Westlake Women’s Club to seniors in seven Conejo Valley area high schools: Agoura, Indian Hills, Oak Park, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Westlake, and Conejo Valley.

Selection will be based on academic records, recommendations of teachers and counselors, and participation in school or community activities, as well as the need for financial assistance.

A $1,200 memorial scholarship honoring friends and relatives of club members, and named in recognition of Karen Rufener, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Rufener of Westlake Village, will be awarded to one Conejo area senior student.

The Westlake Women’s Club offers an additional grant through the Women’s Resource Center of California Lutheran University. It is designed to help a young woman who is returning to school after an absence caused by need, work or other responsibilities.

Please call the school career counselors for more information or an application, which has an April 20 deadline.
