Volunteers help nonprofits in ‘Day of Caring’
 | | LISA ADAMS/T.O. Acorn HELPING OUT-Victor Gonzalez, left, serves Cheryl Courtney and Diane Shillington an ice cream sandwiche during a 'Thank You Celebration' at the Gardens of the World. Courtney of Thousand Oaks spent her morning sorting food and cleaning at the Food Share in Oxnard, while Shillington (also of Thousand Oaks and a United Way campaign aide) helped Girl Scouts at Cal Lutheran University in assisting girls with crafts and game booths. The special event brought volunteers together to help nonprofit agencies with various tasks, including painting, gardening, organizing and cleaning. "Day of Caring" is an event of volunteerism. |
