Child, family health fair set for Shriners Hospital

Shriners Hospital for Children-Los Angeles will sponsor its fifth annual Child and Family Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri. and Sat., Oct. 3 and 4 in the hospital atrium, 3160 Geneva St., Los Angeles. Representatives from social service agencies and community organizations will have booths to inform community members, patients, families and staff about available resources.

Shriners Hospitals for Children provide free medical care to children with orthopedic conditions, limb deficiencies and scarring from burns.

The event will offer free immunizations, dental screenings, blood pressure checks and lead poisoning and burn prevention information. Information will also be available on financial literacy, home safety, breast and cervical cancer, free telephone equipment, quality child care, tobacco education, multiple sclerosis information, immigration rights information, disability rights information and child abuse prevention.

There will be gymnastics and yoga demonstrations, giveaways, free food, arts and crafts and more. The event is free and open to the public.
