Temple Etz Chaim to observe High Holidays Rabbi Shimon Paskow, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Etz Chaim, will come out of retirement to assist the Temple with High Holiday services. Rosh Hashana services will be at 8:15 p.m. Fri , Sept. 26; additional Rosh Hashana services are at 9 a.m. Sat.-Sun., Sept. 27-28 at the temple, 1080 Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. In the main sanctuary, Rabbi Richard Spiegel and Hazzan Pablo Duek will conduct services. A parallel service will be conducted in the neighboring Methodist church where Rabbi Paskow and Cantor Nathan Wine will lead the service. Junior Congregation will be from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 27 for Rosh Hashana and the same time on Mon., Oct. 6 for Yom Kippur. Family services will be conducted on the first day of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Childcare will be available from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the first and second days of Rosh Hashana and on Yom Kippur. Reservations are required. Yom Kippur will begin with the chanting of the Kol Nidre at 7:30 p.m. Sun., Oct. 5. Services will be in both the main sanctuary and the Methodist church. Services will begin at 9 a.m. Mon., Oct. 6 and continue throughout the day. This is a day of fasting and should be spent in the synagogue. Yizkor memorial services will begin at 4:15 p.m. in both the main sanctuary and the parallel service.
