Watercolor artists appreciate Westlake Inn’s lushly-landscaped botanical splendor

LISA ADAMS/T.O.A. A CANVAS OF COLOR-David A. Deyell, co-founder of the Thousand Oaks Plein Air Watercolorists, finds a perfect setting to paint at the Westlake Inn. All watercolorists are welcome to join their fellow painters to visit and make new friends.

The lushly-landscaped 17 acres of the Westlake Village Inn provided inspiration for the Thousand Oaks Plein Air Watercolorists who brought their painting supplies and got to work during a visit last week. Featuring botanical gardens, bougainvillea-laced pavilions, rose arbors and European statuary, the Inn was an idyllic setting for the artists to create new works in their favorite medium.

The group was founded by David Deyell, Shel Magnuson and Ed Greenwood and have been a not-for-profit member of the Conejo Arts Council since 1996. In 2001, they became a participating organization with the National Park Service.

All watercolorists of any level are welcome to join the Thousand Oaks Plein Air Watercolorists, who meet once a month to paint at local public outdoor locations. For more information, call Deyell at (805) 494-1700.
