Chapel designated to remember sex abuse victims

Cardinal Roger Mahony recently designated a chapel in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels to remember those affected by sexual abuse. It is believed that the chapel is the first of its kind to be designated for this purpose in a cathedral in the U.S.

According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the chapel is a symbol of the church’s continued commitment to reach out to all those who have been affected by sexual abuse. It also serves as a reminder that the church remains committed to searching for ever more effective ways of ensuring the safety "of all of our people, especially our children," and of facilitating both healing and reconciliation in the church community.
