Conejo Players to present chaotic, poignant comedies

HAVE YOU SEEN HIM?-International undercover agents Amy Sullivan and Paul Fanning search for a missing visitor in Nikki Harmon's new comedy, "THE COAT" at the Conejo Players Theatre.

Conejo Players will present the West Coast premiere of Nikki Harmon’s comedy "The Coat" from June 20-July 12, with performances at 8 p.m. Wed.-Sat. and at 2 p.m. Sun., June 22 at their theatre, 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks.

The cartoon-like epic follows one Mr. Poosch’s adventurous attempts to repossess a coat containing his ID papers which he left behind the night before at the restaurant where he dined across the border in a neighboring country. Undercover agents, opportunistic bureaucrats, corrupt government officials and even a hungry dog are among the 42 characters in the play.

Cast members include Ivy Ratafia and Art Robers of Newbury Park; Mark Dombrowski of Thousand Oaks; and Martha Norton of Calabasas.

Tickets for opening night, which includes champagne/buffet after the performance are $18; otherwise tickets range from $12-$16. For reservations, call (805) 495-3715.

The next Conejo Afternoon Theatre production will be Neil Simon’s "I Ought to be in Pictures," which will be presented at 2 p.m. June 28-29, July 5-6 (also at 7 p.m. on July 6) and July 12. This "poignant, tender and very funny story" revolves around Herb Tucker, a once-successful Hollywood scriptwriter, reluctantly reunited with the daughter he abandoned 16 years earlier, who wants his help in breaking into show business.

Tickets are $10 and reservations may be made by calling the above number.
