Amateur radio club to participate in field exercise

The Ventura County Amateur Radio Society (VCARS) will participate in the annual Amateur Radio "Field Day" Emergency Communications Exercise by operating from the grounds of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum during the weekend of June 28-29.

"Field Day" provides an annual training opportunity for Amateur Radio Operators to quickly assemble, set up and operate amateur radio communication stations under simulated emergency conditions. Members of VCARS will operate about 10 very low power two-way amateur radio stations to communicate with other amateur radio groups throughout the U.S. and the world.

Visitors to the Reagan facility will be able to watch and listen to VCARS members in action from 11 a.m. Sat., June 28 through 11 a.m. Sun., June 29 at 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley. They will be operating adjacent to the museum’s courtyard visitor entrance. For more information visit www.vcars.org.
