Panel to discuss women’s role in management

The multiple roles women play in the management and ownership of family business will be explored during a panel discussion hosted by Cal State Northridge’s Family Business Center from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Thurs., June 19 at the University Club, on the southeast corner of the campus near Dearborn St. and Zelzah Ave., Northridge.

"Women wear so many hats in a family, but that number of hats is compounded when the family owns and operates their own business," said center director David T. Russell, a professor of finance, real estate and insurance. "Our forum should shed some light on this multifaceted aspect of women in family businesses."

The panel includes Carol Davis, founder of Davis Research; Nancy Gump, special events manager of Andy Gump Temporary Site Services and Daniela Meltzer, vice president and chief operating officer of Coptervision.

The forum is free and open to family business owners and their employees. Those interested in attending the panel discussion should call (818) 677-2438. An early RSVP is requested.

The center provides timely and relevant information specific to the needs of family businesses through seminars, support groups, networking, consulting, referrals and research. It forms partnerships in the business community to advance family business development and to increase understanding of issues surrounding family-owned businesses while fostering relationships between the university, its students and the community.
