St. Paschal Baylon hosts Olympiad

Each spring for the past 30 years, students at St. Paschal Baylon School have gathered for the school Olympiad, a day of competition and fun. The Olympiad will be from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Fri., June 6 at the school, 154 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

The event is designed to give students a chance to work as part of a team. Run by the graduating eighth grade, the Olympiad promotes health, fitness and team spirit.

The eighth-grade students choose and run the games. Parent volunteers help organize teams and help with events. Teams include students from grades K through 7. Prizes are awarded to the team with the most spirit.

The day kicks off with help from the Ventura County Sheriff’s department. An Olympic-style torch is paraded around the field, followed by a flag bearer from each team, and sirens announce the start of competition.
