The Buena Ventura Chapter of Childhelp USA bridged the gap between benevolence and abuse during its 18th Annual "Touch of Spring" Luncheon and Fashion Show last Friday at Sherwood Country Club. The event, presented by Nordstrom’s Topanga Plaza, is a fundraiser that underwrites the organization’s efforts in the war on child abuse.
The luncheon included a social hour with shopping at the chapter’s spring kitchen boutique, a silent auction and Nordstrom boutique. Nordstrom put on the fashion show of fashion shows with the season’s newest looks harvested from the most popular store collections. However, what made this event triumphant was that over 300 guests attended with tickets selling for up to $150.
Childhelp USA is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and educational needs of abused and neglected children, focusing their efforts on treatment, research and prevention. Traditionally, 87 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to programs that benefit abused children.
Childhelp USA operates a National Child Abuse Hotline: 1-800-4-A-CHILD. Additionally, they have residential treatment villages and group homes for severely abused children. They also operate their own foster family agency, advocacy centers, community outreach and educational programs.
