Local clergy to discuss respecting differences

The Haverim B’nai B’rith Unit will host a panel of local clergy in a discussion of "Celebrating Our Shared Values, Respecting Our Differences" at 8 p.m. Mon., May 19 at Temple Adat Elohim, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Comprising the panel is Rabbi Alan Greenbaum (Temple Adat Elohim, Thousand Oaks), Rev. Jennifer Redall (Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Oak Park), Monsignor Peter O’Reilly (pastor of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Westlake Village) and Rabbi Gershon Johnson (Temple Beth Haverim, Agoura Hills).

The ecumenical program is presented "in the interest of promoting harmony and understanding among a few of the many religious faiths represented by the residents of the Conejo Valley," according to the Haverim unit. The panel discussion will focus on the concept of how a diverse community such as the Conejo Valley can share important values while respecting religious differences, leading to a stronger community for all.

Prior to the panel discussion, the unit will present awards to five high school seniors from the Conejo Valley who were selected as winners in the fifth annual Haverim B’nai B’rith scholarship competition.
