Taste of international culture coming to Thousand Oaks

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation will present the Tamburitzans of Duquesne University at 7:30 p.m. Tues., May 20 in the Kavli Theatre at the Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., as part of its Live from the Plaza series.

The Tamburitzans (the name comes from the stringed instruments which they play) are college students who receive scholarship aid for their participation in the ensemble. The 35-member ensemble "captures the indomitable spirit" of Eastern Europe and neighboring cultures. Through music and movement, the Tamburitzans "portray the human experience with passion and believability." The performance uses more than 500 intricately detailed costumes.
