Village Voices Chorale presents two spring concerts

Village Voices Chorale will present "American Quilt" in two spring concerts at 8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., May 30-31 in the Scherr Forum of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. The concerts will be a "celebration of our rich national history…[featuring] musical snapshots throughout America’s history," according to the Chorale.

Guest performers on May 30 will be young vocalists Robyn Saxer of UC Irvine, Michael Falcone of CLU and the Ascension Lutheran School Chorus. On May 31, guest performers will be Falcone, Thousand Oaks High School senior Davia Bandy and the Yerba Buena Elementary School Chorus. All are recent winners in the Village Voices annual music awards program.

The concert selections will move from "Deep River," "The Yellow Rose of Texas" and "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" to music by Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber and Rodgers and Hammerstein. The 60-voice ensemble is directed by Gloria Hilliard and accompanied by Christine DeKlotz.
