Foundation rolls in the dough

MICHAEL COONS/T.O.A. FOR A GOOD CAUSE-Kyle Grusham, 10, foreground, lays down on the floor during a contest of who can fall the fastest during a fundraiser at the Roller Dome in Thousand Oaks for the Cancer Hope Foundation on Friday, April 25.

About 80 skaters showed up Friday night to participate in "Skate for Hope," a fundraiser for the Cancer Hope Foundation’s cost free weekend camp at Mt. Crags in Calabasas at the Thousand Oaks Roller Dome. The third event raised approximately $500 toward the cost of camp, which is estimated to cost $10,000.

CHF is optimistic that they will be able to raise the additional funds to see that cancer patients and their families have an opportunity to attend the camp next October. CHF is a nonprofit organization staffed entirely by volunteers. They will host a Community Shopping Day fundraiser at the Sherman Oaks Macy’s, Thurs., May 8.

CHF is selling discount cards for $10 to be used during the shopping day. In addition to receiving discounts of up to 40 percent, those who purchase the cards will automatically be entered into a contest to win a $500 shopping spree at that store.

Anyone wishing to purchase a Community Shopping Day Discount Card or wishing additional information is encouraged to call (818) 407-8822 or visit www.cancerhopefoundation.org.
