Former resident convicted of grand theft and fraud Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced recently that the Major Fraud Unit obtained the conviction of Aaron Woolley, a former resident of Thousand Oaks. Woolley pleaded guilty to two counts of grand theft and one count of computer access and fraud. Woolley also admitted to a special allegation that he stole more than $150,000 from the Harold Neilson Agency in Thousand Oaks and from his former wife. Woolley, a former employee of the Harold Neilson Agency, embezzled about $168,000 from the agency by writing checks to himself and by taking unauthorized benefits. He then manipulated the computerized accounting system to hide the fraud. Woolley also forged his former wife’s signature in order to get a $50,000 loan on their jointly owned home without her knowledge. On April 23, Judge Roland Purnell accepted Woolley’s guilty pleas. Woolley faces up to 64 months in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled for June 18. |
