Thank you for helping us help Hospice
The owners of the Thousand Oaks Acorn were happy to be able to donate more than $1,600 to support Hospice of the Conejo due to the wonderful support readers gave during the paper’s recent voluntary subscription drive. Lisa and Jim Rule, owners, made the commitment to donate 40 percent of proceeds to Hospice of the Conejo, and this week followed through on their promise by delivering a check. (See page 7) The project was envisioned as a way for the community to band together through the newspaper to support the much needed services provided by Hospice.
A giant "Thank you very much" goes out to the hundreds of residents who responded with checks and requests for continued service. It means a lot as we strive to do our best to provide a comprehensive, top-quality hometown newspaper.
It’s our New Year’s resolution here at the Thousand Oaks Acorn to attempt to be even more committed, and keep our eagle eye on the community, the city, and to bring to our readers the most in-depth and comprehensive local news of any media in the Conejo.
The Rules picked Hospice because the commitment shown by that team of caring people dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and to their families, is overwhelming and deserving of support.
Trained volunteers are assigned to families and continue support for as much as six weeks after loss. Hospice of the Conejo is available to anyone with a terminal disease and limited-life expectancy, and if needed, all services are free.
The subscription didn’t bring Hospice a lot of dollars, but every cent helps. Through your support of this voluntary subscription drive we all worked together to make sure those in need will get the care they so richly deserve.
Remember, it’s better to give than receive, and we hope all those who supported the drive feel like they did something that mattered this holiday season, because you, the readers, did something special.
Thank you from the staff and management of the Thousand Oaks Acorn.
