Local Hyatt Plaza to offer
students career experience

The Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) and the California State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation joined to form the Transition Partnership Program 14 years ago and have provided services for more than 900 students. The emphasis of the program is to help specific students from the high schools in the Conejo District explore, experience and obtain careers in the adult work world.

According to the CVUSD, the success of the program is dependent on the active participation of community businesses. The Hyatt Westlake Plaza at 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village, has donated time and staff for more than five years to provide jobs for students so they can explore different career opportunities.

This year the Hyatt Westlake Plaza has offered five jobs for five students to explore through Nov. 15. Students have the opportunity to try the different jobs so they can learn about their skills and interests. According to the Hyatt, the real life work experience that the hotel provides "is the key to guiding the students toward successful employment/careers" after they exit high school.
