Sick of the infighting from the two warring camps I am not that active with the local politics; however, I do read your paper and watch meetings on the television. I am sick of the infighting and the blatantly biased letters from the two warring camps on the council. I cannot believe that the incumbents including Randy Hoffman are able to get away by saying that we are giving approval for only 200 homes a year. What they fail to tell us that the big projects like Dos Vientos have master plans and Lang Ranch is being built under the supervision of a judge. But I agree that growth is not the only or major problem in our city. It is used by many to further their own nest. How can the Parks activists expect support for someone like Bob Wilson who never votes and has flaunted the city by code violations? I can agree that maybe the records are not accurate, but give me a break. They cannot be so inaccurate that many candidates have a 100 percent record of voting and his is zero. While I appreciate Mr. Masry’s help in the recall, it now seems like power has gone to his head and he wants more of it. The glossy Andy Fox card that I got in the mail touts him as a father and husband. Is that enough to be re-elected? He touts his credentials as a firefighter, but he is giving millions to developer Caruso to build on city land. In fact the redevelopment agency which he supports has cost our county fire department over $1 million in lost taxes per the county auditor. So much for his being a hero. I only wish that Don Morris and Dave Seagal had been more serious in running by spending some more money as it takes money to reach to voters. Fox writes on every page of his campaign (See web site www.toaks.org) report "No Developer Donations" while he gets money from people who are on developer teams like architects, civil engineers and special interests like the auto mall. Why don’t we have better candidates for council? Garth George Newbury Park |
