Says he’s sick of what incumbents are saying

Enough is enough. The pro-developer slate of (Dan) Del Campo, (Andy) Fox, and (Dennis) Gillette is spreading outright lies to the public. Let us look at the facts.

Fox has the audacity to print on his mailer and campaign disclosure forms that he does not take money from developers. The truth is, at least half a dozen developers have given money to his campaign. Fox also lists the Los Angeles and San Diego zoos as giving tickets to his campaign, when in fact both zoos have strict polices against making political contributions.

How many businesses believed they donated to Fox’s charity fund, when in fact, the money went to the campaign fund? See for yourself on the city’s Web site under Elections.

Gillette says he is for protecting ridgelines. Earlier this year, he voted for a ridgeline development and for building homes in open space (Editor’s note: the open space referred to, if Site I in Dos Vientos, is still in litigation as to whether it is open space or not). In addition, his campaign literature prominently uses the city’s seal, which is against city and state law.

The third member of the pro-developer slate is Del Campo. In his first two years in office, he and the other two allowed 2,000 homes to be built, exceeding the city’s construction goal. (Editor’s note: the majority of approvals for this construction were given previous to the election of the aforementioned trio.) This information is in the latest Housing Element Draft on the city’s Web site.

The Certified Slow Growth team of Claudia Bill-de la Peña, Laura Lee Custodio, Michael Farris and Bob Wilson, is running a true grassroots campaign, free from developer or big business influence. The only influence you will see on their campaign disclosures is that from the residents of Thousand Oaks such as retirees, homemakers, teachers, small business owners and everyone else who wants true slow growth.

The facts speak for themselves. Vote for the Certified Slow Growth team on November 5th.
