Free workshop offered for Alzheimer’s caregivers

A free workshop for those providing care for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or a related illness will be presented from 4-6 p.m. Wed., Nov. 6 at Sunrise Assisted Living of West Hills, 9012 Topanga Canyon Blvd., West Hills. The workshop’s goals are to help caregivers understand what good health care is and how to develop a partnership with their loved one’s doctor to get the best care possible.

Participants will receive various materials including a "Working with your Doctor" booklet with helpful information on diagnosis, examples of questions to ask the doctor and contact information for community resources; and easy-to-use worksheets that help caregivers track their loved one’s behaviors, medications and their concerns and questions between doctor visits.

In addition, participants will be provided confidence-building strategies on how they can work with the doctor to obtain maximal care for their loved one.
