Newbury Park Scout earn Eagle Badge
Puts together team to refurbish field house at NPHS

Gary Weeks of Boy Scout Troop 754 in Newbury Park has completed his Eagle Scout service project by refurbishing the field house locker room at Newbury Park High School (NPHS). Weeks’ project included 28 Scouts, youth and adults working a total of 172 volunteer hours.

Due to the outstanding volunteer response, Weeks’ was able to complete nearly one-third more repairs than originally planned, and the administration of NPHS was reported to be "very pleased" with the amount of work that was accomplished.

His team repaired holes in the walls, repainted damaged doors and installed kick plates and door bumpers as well as reinforced many areas that were water damaged. Weeks also installed more than 100 sq. ft. of wall board to reinforce the damaged walls.

Funding for his supplies was donated by Lutheran Brotherhood/Thrivent Financial, through their "RespecTeen" service program.
