Getting cleared for takeoff

TRICK OR TREAT-Danny Mandell, 12, of Thousand Oaks loves airplanes and will go as a fighter pilot in an F-18 this year for Halloween. Here he's at Colina Middle School during a Halloween carnival. Danny's mom, Terri, said her son has leukodystrochy, a debilitating disease. Danny can't walk this year to collect candy, but he'll still go door-to-door, thanks to those that helped with his costume. The jet was built by industrial designer Basil Scafidi. The flight suit Danny wears is real and was a gift from Point Mugu Naval Weapons Test Squadron.
